I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the manager of Circuit City's affiliate marketing program. I moved into this role in September and since then have had the pleasure of speaking with many of you. I hope to become acquainted with the rest of you soon.
I've been with Circuit City for ten years in a variety of roles, handling creative services, merchandising, event marketing and print media. Since joining the online marketing group four years ago, I've helped implement comparison shopping, portal and display channels. Late last year I was asked to lead the affiliate, manufacturer and accommodation programs.
I believe business is more successful and certainly more enjoyable when we're able to develop and maintain close working relationships with our partners. The affiliate business is important to us, and we want to equip you with the tools you need. Mary Jurkowski and her terrific team at DoubleClick Performics handle many of the day-to-day business elements for us, but I want to provide my contact information should you ever wish to speak with me directly about an idea, proposal or concern.
Below you will find beneficial program information that will help you continue and build a successful Circuit City Affiliate program. Additionally, we revised our partner terms and conditions, effective April 1, 2008. The terms are current in ConnectCommerce and are attached below for your review. We have also updated our link building capabilities so please read through to ensure you are building your links correctly.

Commission
Circuit City offers category level commissions.
* The commission rate for products included in the Cameras & Imaging, Camcorders, Computers & Peripherals, and PC Software category is one percent (1%).

* The commission rate for products included in the Music category is one
percent (1%)
* The commission rate for all other products is three percent (3%)
New Link Building Capabilities
Please follow the below when building links to ensure they are tracked properly.
There are a variety of linking options available for Circuit City's affiliate program:
1. There will always be up-to-date banner and text links in ConnectCommerce. Log into ConnectCommerce, click Get Links and view Available Links for Circuit City.
2. You may Build Your Own Links (BYOL) through the ConnectCommerce interface. In the Get Links area, choose Build Your Own Link for Circuit City to create links one at a time. If you would like to create many links at once, choose upload your own links. You will be able to download a spreadsheet template that you can complete and upload to ConnectCommerce. You will receive an email reply containing a spreadsheet with all of the links you have created.
Circuit City uses key codes to track their marketing campaigns in their analytics system.
3. A product data feed is available free of charge from DoubleClick Performics. If you would like to receive the feed, please send an email, with "Circuit City Product Data Feed" in the subject line, to CircuitCity@publisher.performics.com with the following information. If you already receive other product data feeds from DoubleClick Performics, simply provide your pubid or username and request to add the Circuit City feed to your current feed list.
* Email Address or FTP Address
* FTP username/Login - The username/login used to access the server
* Password - The password used by the user to access the server
* Directory (if exist) and File Name - The directory (if exists) and file name where the file will be picked up(e.g. home/catalog/filename.txt)
4. You can build links outside the ConnectCommerce interface using URL parameters. Take the link below, insert your publisher ID (available in the bottom right hand corner of any screen in ConnectCommerce), and append the URL of the landing page you want to use. The landing page URL should be URL encoded to ensure that any special characters are translated correctly.

Commission Eligibility and Calculation
You will qualify for a commission for sales by us of certain qualifying products and services ("Qualifying Purchases") when all of the following conditions are met:
* Products or services are purchased online within three days (72 hours) from the time a customer links to the Circuit City Site from a Link on your Site using the same computer system. In addition, for a sale to qualify, the customer must not have responded to any other marketing activity (such as clicking on
a link in an email, on a banner or portal advertisement, or on a Link on another Affiliate's site) subsequent to clicking on a Link on your Site;
* Products are shipped by us to a U.S., APO/FPO, or U.S. Territories shipping address; picked up in one of our stores; or delivered;
* Products are billed to a U.S., APO/FPO, or U.S. Territories billing address; and
* We have received full payment, including payment for shipping, taxes, and any other charges.
Commissions will be adjusted for orders that are cancelled, undeliverable, returned,
or where payment is otherwise refunded or recredited (including both full and partial refunds or recredits) to the purchaser ("Customer Credits"). We will adjust your account for Customer Credits on an ongoing basis, but at least monthly. You will
not receive a commission for any sales initiated or completed offline (for example,
by telephone or in store). Our determination of whether a commission is payable is final and is binding on you.
* The commission rate for products, Firedog services, and Roadshop services in all categories, except those listed in II., III. and IV. below is three percent (3%) of Net Sales for Qualifying Purchases.
* The commission rate for products included in the Cameras & Imaging, Camcorders, Computers & Peripherals, and PC Software category is one percent (1%) of Net Sales for Qualifying Purchases. This category includes
the following types of products: Digital Cameras, Cameras, Film/Disposable Cameras, Web Cameras, Camcorders, Desktop Computers, Notebook Computers, Pocket PCs/PDAs, Computer Monitors, Computer Printers, Keyboards & Mice, Computer Speakers, Game Pads/Joysticks, Scanners, Recorders, Organizers, Foreign Language Translators, Electronic Dictionaries and Thesauruses, Modems & Networking, Cables & Connectors, Drives & Storage, Blank Media, Graphics & Sound Cards, Video Editing Kits, PC Software, Ink and Paper, and other similar products.
* The commission rate for products included in the Music category is one
percent (1%) of Net Sales for Qualifying Purchases. However, we do not pay commissions on purchases of Music digital downloads.
* We do not pay commissions on purchases of Circuit City Gift Cards, Wireless Phones (not including Prepaid Wireless or Wireless Accessories), or Direct TV installations. In addition, we have certain relationships with third party sellers where visitors to the Circuit City Site make purchases from such third party sellers by linking from or through the Circuit City Site ("Reverse Affiliate Sales"). We do not pay commissions on Reverse Affiliate Sales.
* Commission rates will be based on the aggregate amount actually paid to Circuit City for Qualifying Purchases, excluding amounts collected by us for sales or other taxes or fees required to be collected by a governmental authority, such as the electronic waste recycling fee payable on certain purchases in the State of California, shipping, and similar charges, amounts
due to credit card fraud and bad debt, and Customer Credits ("Net Sales"). Commissions are only paid for certain qualifying products and services, and commission rates are based on product and service categories. We establish the categories and place specific items within those categories in our sole discretion. Our current categories and commission rates for products and services in those categories are as follows:
Third Party and Sub-Affiliates
You shall not establish or cause to be established any promotion that provides
any rewards, points or compensation for Transaction, or that allows third parties
("Sub-Affiliates") to place Circuit City's Links on their Web site or in their emails, unless you receive Circuit City's prior written permission. You shall be responsible
for ensuring that each Sub-Affiliate meets Circuit City's and Performics' eligibility requirements (as established from time to time), is bound by and complies with Affiliate duties as specified in the Affiliate Advertising Agreement and these Special Terms, and for payment of Payouts due to Sub-Affiliates that shall accrue in Your Account.
Copy and Creative
You may not create, publish, distribute, or permit any written material, including email, that makes reference to Circuit City or displays a hyperlink that directs
traffic to the Circuit City Web site or the Destination Site without first submitting such material to Circuit City and receiving our written consent.
Bidding
You shall not purchase search engine keywords that use any Circuit City Trademark containing the phrase "Circuit City" and/or variations or misspellings thereof. You
shall not purchase or register keywords, AdWords, search terms or other identifying terms that include the word "CIRCUIT CITY" or certain variations or misspellings thereof for use in any search engine, portal, sponsored advertising service or other search or referral service. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, this policy prohibits You from bidding on:
* Circuit City's trademark, "Circuit City", and any keyword string that includes this term. For example, "Circuit City.com", "circuitcity", "Circuit City televisions", "Circuit City coupons", etc.;
* Variations or misspellings of Circuit City's trademark: for example "circuit-city", "Circuit-City.com", "wwwcircuitcity.com", "circutcity.com", "www.Circuit-City.com", "www.CircuitCity.com","www.circiutcity.com".
Direct Linking
In addition to the foregoing, direct linking to the Circuit City Site from a search engine listing/ad based upon a keyword, AdWord, search term or other identifying terms not including a Circuit City Trademark is prohibited. By way of example, and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, You may not bid on a search term such as "television" and have the link from the search engine direct the Visitor directly to the Circuit City Web site without first visibly landing on Your Web site.
In addition, your display URL shall not be "circuitcity.com". You are further prohibited from using the term "official site" in Your ad or otherwise presenting Your Web site as an official site.
Use of Software
You shall not use any third party software or technology (aka "adware") for purposes of engaging in pop-up or pop-under advertising and/or generating non-user initiated activity (e.g., forced clicks or redirects.)
Use of "loyalty" software for purposes of reminding your site members they can earn rewards for purchasing with Circuit City is allowed on a case-by-case basis with prior written approval from Circuit City and/or Performics on behalf of Circuit City. Additionally, your use of the loyalty software must adhere to all relevant sections of the Performics network terms as well as the Publisher Code of Conduct. |
